November 10th
Today started overcast with showers. We had a 2 1/2 hour 4x4 tour scheduled with Albert’s Transport. After a somewhat rocky tender ride, we climbed in to the back of a truck and off we went.
Our first stop was at a bay where the 3rd Mutiny on the Bounty was filmed. From this bay, we also viewed the “Bali Hai” famous mountain.
Next stop was at the Belvedere lookout. On a sunny day, I’m sure the view is spectacular, but today it was cloudy.
Then on to view an archeological temple (Marae Tetiiroa). The guide explained how the ancient Tahitians conducted human sacrifices at this location. Also, the ancient Tahitians were a cannibalistic society.
We then stopped at an agricultural school. This was Bobbie’s first sighting of a cat!!!!!!! Here we toured the pineapple fields, on to “Jurassic Pork” where we saw some VERY BIG pigs that stunk!!!!! and some beautiful flowers.
We then left the Opunohu valley and traveled over the mountain on dirt roads towards Cook’s Bay.
Our last stop was at the Moorea Distillery & Fruit juice Factory where we sampled some very tasty liqueurs.
As we returned to the tender dock, the rain came down!!! Tomorrow we are on Tahiti and hopefully will see the sun.
